A Break in Her Day: An Ode to Rae
                                        by Darcey Anne

She swings on a swing
At a local pretty park
Wearing her new outfit
A nice skirt and shirt
Handmade with love
No cares in the world
She is as happy as a lark
Without any meadow.

She climbs up a little ladder
To slide down a small slide
Her hair blows in the breeze
As she lands at the bottom
The trees bend and sway
As the wind rustles away
She is as rich as a pirate
Without any treasure.

She jumps onto a fire poll
Which is oh so much fun
This is her day in the sun
She catches herself from falling
As she hits the ground running
In a field full of lush greenery
She is as sturdy as a barricade
Without any walls to hold her back.

She goes ‘round and ‘round
On a small merry go round
A perfect toy in this city park
The sun shines on her shoulders
No obscurity, no clouds, no dark
A basketball game plays as we watch
She’s as lucky as a bright penny
Without any sac of coins.

Enjoy!

Darcey Anne!!!  Such a happy child!!!  Do you know her?  She sounds like exuberance itself.  Poem very well done.  You paint quite the picture with your words... thumbs up

Yes, Cloudy I know her.  She is a young person in my life along with her mom, Marian.  She will be with us at the John Denver Remembrance Day Picnic. Thanks for what you said about my poem.
